12 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
13 - 1 tsp chili powder
14 - 1/2 tsp ground cumin
15 - 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
16 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Toppings

17 - 7 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
18 - 2 oz grated sharp cheddar cheese
19 - 2 tbsp pickled jalapeños, sliced (optional)
20 - 2 tbsp hot honey
21 - Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

# How to Make:

01 - Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add warm water and olive oil, stirring until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled, about 1 hour.
02 - Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion until translucent, around 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned. Stir in tomato paste, smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper and cook 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
03 - Set oven to 480°F. If using a pizza stone, place it inside to preheat as well.
04 - Punch down the risen dough and roll or stretch into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or floured pizza peel. Spread spicy ground beef evenly over the dough, leaving a border. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top. Add jalapeños if desired.
05 - Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until crust is golden and cheese bubbles.
06 - Remove pizza from the oven. Drizzle immediately with hot honey and garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley if desired. Slice and serve warm.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • It tastes like you've been cooking pizzas your whole life, even if you haven't.
  • The sweet burn of hot honey against the savory beef creates a flavor moment that lingers long after dinner.
  • You can have it ready in under an hour, which means impressing people becomes wonderfully doable.
02 -
  • If your dough is rising too slowly, the room is too cold; move it somewhere warmer or give it more time rather than rushing it.
  • Don't skip cooling the beef mixture slightly before spreading it on the dough, or you'll accidentally start cooking the crust from below and it'll be doughy instead of crisp.
  • The hot honey has to be drizzled immediately after baking—waiting even five minutes means it loses its purpose.
03 -
  • If your oven tops out below 250°C, don't panic—just give the pizza an extra 2–3 minutes and it'll still come out delicious, just slightly less charred.
  • A pizza stone genuinely changes the game by distributing heat more evenly, but a baking sheet works perfectly fine if that's what you have.
